Performance of Gas-Phase Toluene by Adsorption onto Activated Carbon Prepared from Robinia Pseudoacacia L. as Lignocellulosic Material

The main target of this study was to eliminate gas-phase toluene with activated carbon from indoor air. carbons were prepared Robinia pseudoacacia L. biomass under different conditions. change in surface functional groups the produced raw material and by pyrolysis absence oxygen at 500–900 °C, activation potassium hydroxide (KOH). highest area 1271.3 m2/g which gives reason for its external porous surface. porosity graphite properties KNxACs detected scanning electron microscope (SEM). amount adsorbed (C7H8) determined using a gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry thermal desorber system (TD–GC–MS) on KNxAC adsorption capacity reached 111 mg/g 25 °C 1000 ppm.
